Through this comprehensive course, you’ll cultivate fundamental salon skills, including shampooing techniques, salon financial transactions, client preparation for salon services, and hair drying techniques.

Under the guidance of industry experts, you’ll have the opportunity to learn current techniques and gain hands-on experience with real clients in our specially developed learning facilities. This immersive learning environment ensures that you not only grasp theoretical knowledge but also develop practical skills that are directly applicable in salon settings.

Designed to equip individuals with a foundational understanding of hairdressing practices, this qualification focuses on routine tasks carried out under direct supervision and guidance from experienced hairdressers. By the end of the course, you’ll emerge equipped with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in entry-level roles within the hairdressing industry, laying a solid foundation for your professional journey in this creative and dynamic field.

This course is run from our onsite training salon, Foundation Vogue Academy.

By completing this course, you will learn to:
  • Greet and prepare clients
  • Mix and apply hair colour
  • Communicate and work as part of a salon team
  • Wash, dry and style hair
  • Understand the in’s and out’s of conducting salon financial transactions

What you will be provided with on completion:
  • A nationally recognised qualification at Certificate II level
  • A strong foundation to move into the SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing
  • The skills and knowledge needed to start your career assisting in a Salon

This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding.

Students have up to 12 months to complete this course.
Classes run onsite 2 days per week, Monday 9.00am – 2.30pm and Thursday 10.00am – 6.00pm.

FOR VETDSS enrolments, please contact your home school.
VETDSS classes run 1 day per week over the course of the school year.

Upon completing this course students can move on to complete SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing, or source work as an assistant in a salon environment.

Note – students who move on to the SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing will receive Credit Transfers for Recognition of Prior Learning from this course.

Our Vogue Academy Salons have been developed to provide students with a working salon environment where they can provide clients with salon services and are combined with a classroom space where students undertake their coursework.

All training is Nationally Accredited.

Fees are correct as of March 2024. The delivery mode for all courses at Foundation Learning Centre is via face-to-face and a mix of flexible remote or online learning. Face-to-face is delivered onsite at Foundation Learning Centre campuses. Student tuition and materials fees as published are subject to change given an individuals circumstances at enrolment. To be eligible for a concession amount, a valid concession card must be produced at the time of enrolment. FLC’s online service standards are located on our website.
