This course is ideal for those with little experience with using a computer, who wish to learn the basic skills such as logging on and off, navigating through the computer, creating short documents and using the internet.

With a focus on hands-on, interactive learning, participants will enhance their confidence, communication, teamwork and presentation skills.

Overview

This course is a comprehensive introduction to fundamental computer skills, that is tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.

Designed to empower students with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the digital world effectively, throughout the course, students will gain proficiency in various essential areas including operating the computer, keyboard and mouse usage, developing and editing of basic documents, file creation and navigation and safely using the internet.

By completing this course, you will learn to:
  • Understand how to operate a computer and its basic functionalities
  • Save files and navigate folders
  • Create and edit simple documents
  • Use the internet effectively and safely

  • A strong foundation to continue developing your confidence, skills & knowledge on a computer

Study Areas include:

  • Starting up and shutting down computers, along with logging in securely.
  • Getting comfortable with keyboard and mouse navigation.
  • Learning essential functions of Microsoft Word for creating and editing documents.
  • Understanding how to save and locate files efficiently.
  • Exploring the basics of internet browsing and email usage.

Students attend 1 day per week.

TUITION FOR THIS CLASS IS FREE!

Our Pre-Accredited and Neighbourhood House Programs incur an annual registration fee of $10. All participants must pay this annual, non-refundable registration fee upon enrolment into their first program for the calendar year. This includes hobby programs and social groups. This fee will be charged once per calendar year.

FUNDED FEE ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for a full funded place in these courses you must be:

  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen or
  • a holder of an Australian permanent visa or 
  • an Asylum seeker holding a valid visa that confers eligibility for Skills First training

CONCESSION FEE ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for a concession fee, a valid concession card showing the name of the person enrolling in the course must be provided at the time of enrolment. FLC may request a copy of the card at the time of enrolment. Concession is applied at the time of enrolment and cannot be applied partway through the course.
