Foundation College
The VCE0000001 VCE Vocational Major has been designed to give young people a greater choice and flexibility to pursue their strengths and interests and develop the skills and capabilities needed to succeed in further education, work and life.
It prepares students to move into apprenticeships, traineeships, further education and training, university (via non-ATAR pathways) or directly into the workforce.
In the VCE VM at Foundation Learning Centre, the focus of study is on exploring life and community, with an emphasis on building employability skills, problem solving and developing a sense of competence as a learner.
Project based learning is the basis of most VCE VM studies, where students learning is conducted under supervision and is reasonably self directed in regard to planning and work activities.
Students are supported to develop employability skills, a high level of interpersonal skills, independent action and decision making skills, and leadership skills. Our alternate education setting encourages students to build their capacity to engage in education through supportive small classes, access to Wellbeing and Careers advice, and curriculum tailored to build their knowledge and skills through real world, hands on learning.
The VCE VM is delivered over 2 years, which includes Year 11 level and Year 12 level.
This course is delivered at our Casey Campus in Narre Warren and our Peninsula Campus in Frankston.
