VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning) is a hands-on option for students that gives practical work related experience, as well as literacy and numeracy skills and the opportunity to build personal skills that are important for life and work.
VCAL is an accredited secondary certificate which runs within the same timeframe as VCE, with each level (Foundation, Intermediate or Senior) completed in one year. Each student will spend 3 days per week on Literacy, Oral Communications, Numeracy, Work Related Skills and Personal Development Skills, and one day undertaking a VET course of their choosing.
Students will also participate in structured workplace learning as part of their course. Students are encouraged to undertake volunteer work, paid employment or further study on their day off.
Internal VET courses will incur additional costs. All applicants are required to attend an interview with the Head of Department – Youth Education prior to being accepted. Please call Fiona Fisher for more information on 9704 7388.
