Do you want to work in a salon? Learn the basics with the Certificate II in Salon Assistant and get started on your journey!
A nationally recognised qualification, this entry-level course will prepare you for work and further study. You will develop fundamental salon skills such as shampooing techniques, conducting financial transactions, preparing clients for salon services and drying hair to shape.
Plus, you will be taught by experts, learn the latest industry techniques and gain practical skills on real clients in our purpose-built learning facilities.
Certificate II in Salon Assistant can lead to:
- An apprenticeship in Hairdressing
- Upskilling to the Certificate III in Hairdressing
- Work as a Salon Assistant in the retail or beauty industry
This qualification provides a limited range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons by individuals who provide assistance with client services. These routine and repetitive tasks are completed under direct supervision and with guidance from hairdressers who manage the client service.
This qualification is intended to prepare individuals for further training or to gain employment as a salon assistant.
This course is run from our onsite training salon, Foundation Vogue Academy.

To complete the certificate, students must complete all of the above units.
PROGRAM LENGTH
Students have up to 12 months to complete this course.
Classes run onsite 2 days per week, Monday 9.00am – 2.30pm and Thursday 10.00am – 6.00pm.
PATHWAYS
Upon completing this course students can move on to complete SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing, or source work as an assistant in a salon environment.

The delivery mode for all courses at Foundation Learning Centre is via face-to-face and a mix of flexible remote or online learning unless listed otherwise. Face-to-face is delivered onsite at 1 Malcolm Court, Narre Warren. Student tuition and materials fees as published are subject to change given an individuals circumstances at enrolment. To be eligible for a concession amount, a valid concession card must be produced at the time of enrolment.
