The Take the Next Step program is designed for young adults who have left school in the past five years and are wanting to look at entry level options or vocational training opportunities.

For those who are preparing for the next step in their adult life, it can be challenging.

Foundation Learning Centre has always been a leader in community education, and it continues to be at the forefront of supporting youth and those that may have no idea what comes next and may need help with planning and information.

For young adults who may find navigating further education and employment challenging, we are proud to offer this new program that has enabled students to find a pathway that is right for them.

Take The Next Step, program consisting of a suite of employability and vocational skills, that is positive and supporting.  

Whether they are a recent school leaver, or have been wanting to reconnect and resume their journey, this could be the answer for them.

This program has been developed with the young adult in mind.  The Take The Next Step Program will –

  • Build their confidence and self esteem
  • Give them the skills to be Job ready for entry into the workforce
  • Give them the skills to be financially informed for adult life
  • Provide taster programs that give a real insight for further study and work
  • Provide outcomes to step into a variety of industries

It is now time to take those steps forward to be equipped for the world of work and life. This course will not only set you up with the skills required to step into your first job, but move you forward towards independent living.

It will include…

  • Effective cover letters and resumes
  • Job Search Skills
  • Personal presentation and interview skills, face to face and Zoom
  • Prepare financially for the work environment
  • Living financially, including budgets, rent and lease contracts.
  • Understanding personal loans and credit cards

Duration: 6 sessions
When: Fridays 11th February to 18th March

Fees – $80 (full funded fee)
$50 (funded concession fee)

This course is designed for people who want to develop entry level office skills. It is suitable for those entering the workforce, retraining, and those who are changing their career path. Ideal for administration work and small business.

This course has been created for people who want to develop entry level office and administration skills and small business. It is suitable for those entering the workforce, retraining and those who are looking at changing their career path. This course is delivered in two parts.

Understand and be trained at an introductory level in the following skills:


• What is customer service?
• Engaging with clients
• Telephone techniques
• Communication skills
• Language barriers
• Interview techniques
• Meetings – group & individual
• Dealing with conflict
• Identifying customer needs

• Customer satisfaction


Sessions: 9 x 2 hours sessions

Date:  Tuesdays from 8th February to 5th April

Time: 6.00pm – 8.00pm

Cost: $45.00 (Full Fee)  $45.00 (Concession)

The hospitality taster program is designed to pass on necessary skills and knowledge to gain an entry pathway into the hospitality industry. The training provides skills to allow the learner to pathway either directly into employment or into
an accredited qualification

The program will include…

  • Basic barista training
  • SITXFSA001 Food Safety Level 1 Certificate
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol

Duration: 8 sessions
When: Wednesdays and Thursdays 16th February to 10th March
Time: 12.30pm to 5.30pm
Cost: $225 (full funded fee)    $195 (funded concession fee)

NTRO TO CARAVAN MANUFACTURING
Prepare to work in the busy caravan manufacturing industry with this skill building short course. At course completion, you will have the opportunity to attend an interview for relevant industry job roles

Duration:  Monday 17th January – 9 Sessions

Date: Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays

Time: 9.00am – 2.30pm

Cost: $65.00 (Full Fee), $40.00 (Concession)
