Young Parents Education

VET Education

The Young Parents Education Program (YPEP) offers pregnant teens and young parents the opportunity to complete their education in the flexible learning environment. Students are encouraged to bring their babies to class with them, and a fully-qualified child care support worker will be onsite during each class to assist with care.

Students will undertake the Victorian Pathways Certificate (Year 10) or VCE Vocation Major (Year 11 & 12) course.

VPC:
The VPC is an applied learning program that provides flexibility to meet an individuals needs and prepares students to move into the VCE Vocational Major for years 11 and 12, an Apprenticeship or into the workforce.

At Foundation Learning Centre, project based learning is the basis of most VPC studies and students learn under close supervision with high levels of direction.

The Victorian Pathways Certificate is delivered over 1 – 2 years.

VCE VM:
In the VCE VM at Foundation Learning Centre, the focus of study is on exploring life and community, with an emphasis on building employability skills, problem solving and developing a sense of competence as a learner.

Project based learning is the basis of most VCE VM studies, where students learning is conducted under supervision and is reasonably self directed in regard to planning and work activities.

Students are supported to develop employability skills, a high level of interpersonal skills, independent action and decision making skills, and leadership skills. Our alternate education setting encourages students to build their capacity to engage in education through supportive small classes, access to Wellbeing and Careers advice, and curriculum tailored to build their knowledge and skills through real world, hands on learning.

The VCE VM is delivered over 2 years, which includes Year 11 level and Year 12 level.
